SOLUTIONS: Cancer Patients
Losing your hair can be a very traumatic thing. There are several reasons for hair loss, two of which are certain kinds of chemotherapy and radiation. Not all chemotherapy causes hair loss. Radiation to the scalp may cause hair loss, but not radiation to the lung. In order for radiation to cause hair loss on the head it is usually done to the scalp area or in that general vicinity.

Losing your hair is not an easy thing to go through. No one can tell you how you are going to feel. Everyone is different. The main objective is to get whatever treatment is prescribed. It may take some time for you to adjust mentally because your appearance is very important to you. During this time some people may choose to cover their head with beautiful scarves, turbans, and hats of all sorts including baseball caps. Others decide to wear full hair replacement.

There are a couple of options when you are looking at hair replacement. The machine made style is an option that is going to be less expensive. The hand-tied base is the option where the hair looks like it is actually growing from your scalp and is a little more expensive.

SCIENCE HAS FINALLY FOUND A WAY OF GROWING THICKER HAIRS!

The good news is it's absolutely true!
The bad news is it's only growing currently on research mice.

Harvard Medical School's Dr. Michael Detmar stated, "The question now is, can we, by this method, improve hair growth in humans?" Dr. Detmar reported he and colleagues are presently working on how vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) can be delivered to human scalps.

In research mice, the protein vascular endothelial growth factor enlarged blood vessels in hair follicles making them larger so that more roots grew and hair became thicker. VEGF is also being studied to find if it can enlarge blood vessels in heart disease patients.

We will keep you up to date on the progress of all hair loss research as soon as such results are made available.
